The COO of Renault, Carlos Tavares, recently revealed his intentions to make Gordini models the ultimate track-focused vehicles and so new details are starting to emerge about what we can expect.
In a recent interview given to PistonHeads, Tavares stated that he has forbidden the company to use the Gordini name on anything other than extreme track versions or rally versions of RS [Renaultsport] cars which shows how clear he is in his intentions.
Tavares declined to give further details but said Renaultsport variants of the Clio, Twingo and Megane would be natural candidates. He further explained that one can do an enhanced chassis, an enhanced engine and enhanced brakes then it might be easy to make it a Gordini.
In related news he even confirmed that the company was open and eager to do specific Williams versions and the statement was made with reference to the Clio Williams which is alleged to be launched in 2014.
