It goes without saying that the Shelby Mustang has a huge fan base spread across the globe. Yet, the American automaker, Ford, never stops innovating to produce better and better models of the vehicle. Now, the company has brought to the stage of the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) what it calls the Shelby GT350R Mustang.
Ford has equipped the vehicle in question with a number of kits that enhance its aerodynamics factor. These kits incorporate side skirts, wheel air curtains, fender vents that reduce turbulence, wheel wells with vents, an aggressive diffuser and a new vent on the hood of the vehicle. At its front fascia, the vehicle also sports a splitter that increases the down force of the vehicle. Meanwhile, there is a carbon fiber wing at the rear end of the car that increases its efficiency.
Under its engine bonnet, the Shelby GT350R Mustang is going to feature a V8 engine, naturally aspirated, developed by Ford itself. This engine will be equipped with a flat-plane crankshaft and a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The engine is capable of generating the power of 500 hp in total and 542 Nm of torque. There is also an air-to-oil differential cooler that will be modulated electronically. Ford claims this will give the car the temperatures ideal for driving on the track. Do not be mistaken, though, the car is not a track-only car but a road-legal car instead.
For customers that are more into comfort than track performance, they may want to consider choosing the American automaker’s Electronic Package for their Shelby GT350R Mustang. This will offer amenities like turn signal for side mirrors, an audio system with seven speakers in total, a navigation system featuring an 8-inch touchscreen display and a dual zone air conditioning system, among other stuffs to expect.
