Smaller Smart ForTwo spied testing in southern Europe

The third generation of the Smart ForTwo is back with an additional batch of spy images taken somewhere in southern part of Europe.

These latest spy images shows that the new ForTwo will be slightly shorter and lower compared to the outgoing model and it will also have a shrunken wheelbase. These modifications will be applied in order to make room for a bigger model, the ForFour reboot, which is allegedly due in the year 2015 or 2016 with four doors and a longer wheelbase to provide a decent amount of legroom for rear passengers.

Talking about the design, the new ForTwo seems to draw its inspiration from the ForVision concept that was shown two years ago at IAA. The car will utilize the same platform as the next-gen Renault Twingo which the French are planning to sell only as a five-door model.

Talking about the power, engine lineup will consist of three-cylinder gasoline and diesels, along with a possible EV variant with an electric motor rated at 87 hp (65 kW).

Well we expect more details of the model to be out soon and we will let you know about the same and keep you updated.
