South Korea stated it approved Volkswagen‘s plan to repair 27,000 Tiguan sports utility vehicles to guarantee they comply with emissions standards, after formerly turning down the German car manufacturer’s proposals 3 times.

Federal government tests showed the proposed repair to get rid of software that cheats emissions tests did not impact fuel economy or performance, the environment ministry stated.

The automobiles making up 2 Tiguan variations were amongst the 125,522 automobiles South Korea ordered Volkswagen to recall in November 2015 after it admitted emissions scandal.

Strategies to fix the remaining 99,000 automobiles will be reviewed, the ministry stated.

South Korea is noted to have taken a hard line on Volkswagen, slapping it with a record fine, banning sales and on Wednesday indicting 7 existing and previous executives and workers in the wake of the emissions test.

Volkswagen’s sales in Asia’s fourth-biggest economy dropped to their first yearly decrease in 12 years in 2016 because of the sales suspension.
