Subaru Liberty X high-riding sedan added to updated 2013 range

The high-riding Subaru Liberty X sedan has been launched in Australia, providing buyers with a mid-sized sedan with SUV-like ground clearance.

It is known here as the Liberty X, the new sedan variant sits 200mm off the ground – 50mm higher than the regular model, and just 13mm short of the Liberty-based Outback wagon.

Engine-
The entry-level Liberty 2.5X is powered by Subaru’s 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine, outputting 123kW/229Nm. This power and torque is channelled through a continuously variable automatic transmission.

And the top-spec Liberty 3.6X gets the beefy 3.6-litre six-cylinder engine worth 191kW/350Nm, and is equipped as standard with a conventional five-speed automatic gearbox.

Other Features-

Other features includes some upgrade on the outer as well as the inner circle on the car.

The 2013 Subaru Liberty X sees a newly designed grille and front bumper, new side skirts, a tweaked rear bumper and new silver 18-inch alloy wheels (gunmetal on 3.6X) along with the extra 50mm of ground clearance, now totaling 200mm – only 13mm off the Subaru Outback.

On the Inside, Both models feature Subaru’s ‘EyeSight’ driver assist system as standard. The EyeSight safety suite performs multiple functions, such as automatic braking in the event of a collision, speed adjusting cruise control and lane departure warnings, along with a reverse camera, leather trim with heated front seats, satellite navigation, auto lights and wiper de-icers, colour multi-function display, Bluetooth and USB connectivity,sunroof, smart key and push-button start, McIntosh audio.

The Liberty 3.6X also gains chrome door handles and a chrome boot garnish, unique door and dashboard trim details for the interior and SI-Drive – making switching between three different driving modes are possible.

Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior, said ” the new Liberty X models increase the scope of the medium car, which now have a ride height of 200mm compared to the previous 150mm.
This makes it ideal for rural and regional areas, but also for those who need extra clearance in negotiating driveways.”

“The ease of entry and exit of our SUVs has always been a key selling point and we have now been able to incorporate this into a sedan, for those who prefer that body style.”
