Subaru has showcased the WRX STI race car at the recently concluded 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon that was developed specifically for the 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race.

The company has not yet officially disclosed the road-going 2014 WRX STI but they have now introduced its race-spec sibling at the Tokyo Auto Salon that is going on in Japan and this car will take part in this year’s 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race that is scheduled to take place between 19-22 June.

The vehicle will take part in the SP3T class and will be driven by Toshihiro Yoshida and Kouta Sasaki both from Japan as well as by two additional drivers from Europe. The team’s manager is going to be Hideharu Tatsumi who is also from Japan. It will be Subaru’s seventh consecutive presence in the endurance race and they are pretty hopeful of emerging as winner once again after their success in 2012 in the same SP3T class.

The road-legal version of 2014 Subaru WRX STI will now be introduced at North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) that will be starting today in Detroit.
