The Mercedes Benz G-class Makes a Come Back In The UK

by Alex

The UK happens to be Mercedes Benz’s largest market for right hand drive cars and come autumn this year, it will back in the UK after a hiatus of 10 years with the new mighty G-class. The G-class is also the oldest model to grace Merc’s current line-up of cars and one that has just recently crossed three decades of its existence. The G-class will be offered with two engine options – diesel or supercharged petrol.

The G-class will be available in the UK in two trim levels, the diesel engined G 350 CDI that has on tap 221HP that will go 25.7 miles on a gallon and the G 55 AMG KOMPRESSOR that produces a mammoth 500HP and is good enough to do a 0-62 mph sprint in just 5.5 seconds, quite commendable for a vehicle this size and weight.

On the inside, both the G 350 CDI and the G 55 AMG will offer as standard, automatic climate control, heated seats with memory setting, leather upholstery that covers the dashboard as well and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 Sound system. Transmission is automatic with high and low gear ratios while the reverse parking aid – COMAND ensures parking this monster is not a chore. The Bi-Xenon headlamps make for fantastic night-time driving.

Apart from the two models, there’s also the G 300 CDI Professional – a commercial version powered by a diesel engine.

The Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands will be the exclusive dealer of all the three models of the G-class. Prices of the vehicles stand at £57,975 OTR for the G 300 CDI Professional, £79,975 OTR for the G 350 GDI and £114,975 OTR for the top of the line 500HP G 55 AMG.
