The Volkswagen Taigun is displayed at the Sao Paulo Motor show. Manufacturers have preferred to label this Minicar Hatchback as a Compact SUV. Here is review of this Compact SUV-
The VW Taigun Compact SUV is a four-seater built on VW’s new small family platform. This concept on display at Sao Paulo, Brazil is 3.86 m L x 1.73 m W on a 2.47 m wheelbase.
Taigun’s Power unit is a one-litre – 3 Cylinder – DI turbopetrol unit. 81 kW power @ 5,000 rpm delivers 175 Nm to the wheels through a manual six-speed gearbox. Backed by fuel consumption of 4.7 litres100 kms, the acceleration is stated as 100kmh in 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 186 kmh.
The VW Taigun Compact SUV Concept should find favor from entry level first-time car buyers; small car buyers looking for a fuel efficient family car with comfortable leg room for passenger comfort; and, the professional executives’ personal car for family use.
This compact SUV has a 2.47 m wheelbase to provide a roomy interior, comfortable headroom {1,036 mm(F) & 980 mm(R)} and 280-litre baggage space with rear seat in normal position, with rear seats folded down the baggage space becomes 987-litres. A split tailgate has two-third opening upward and one-third folding downward for ease of loading unloading baggage. The front grille has a prominent design and placement. LED spot lights are prominent too.
VW design & product engineering teams have taken care of passenger safety by allowing a comfortable ground clearance for the metal underbody of the chassis. Alloy wheels of 17” are standard. This compact SUV is ideally meant for urban usage; Taigun may be used off-road also as stated by the manufacturers.
The interiors of the passenger cab have smooth, clean lines and finish on the seats and the facia and supportive inner panels. Interior controls and instrument cluster have more utility than show and, provide the driver and passengers with comfort and ease in fulfilling their needs when on the move. Here-below are the highlights of the interior

VW plans to gauge public reaction to the Taigun before making a decision on when to put the vehicle into production.
