The Japanese automaker, Toyota, has officially announced to the public that it will be showing off a facelifted version of the Avalon when this year’s Chicago Auto Show event kicks off. In case you have yet to notice, the event in question is scheduled for kick-off in approximately one week from now.
Designed as a 2016 model year vehicle and the fourth generation of the Avalon, the upcoming facelift model will come in the shape of a full-size sedan. Thanks to the mid-life facelift treatment that the Japanese automaker is applying onto it, the vehicle is more than likely to sport the latest front fascia visual styling similar to other recent vehicle lineups produced by the Japanese company. With that being said, there will seemingly be fewer chrome accents on both the upper and lower parts of the front grille. In addition to that, the headlamps will seemingly feature new graphics and come integrated with restyled LED daytime running lights.
The upcoming Toyota Avalon facelift also looks more aggressive, thanks to its vertical LED fog lamps combined with a sporty looking front bumper and a largely sized front grille with a hexagonal design. Unfortunately, that is as much as we can tell from the current teaser released by Toyota. As for the interior, it is believed that the vehicle will be coming with new trims, upholstery and some minor new bits and pieces.
For the performance, buyers will seemingly be eligible for a 3.5L V6 engine. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the car should have a total power output of 268 bhp and a total torque of 336 Nm. A hybrid version is seemingly in the works as well, potentially featuring a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine paired with a 104kW electric motor. Also, expect a 245V battery pack featuring the nickel-metal hydride material.
