Turkey finds its new electric car “Pehlivan” to be better than Tesla

by SpeedLux

Previously we had seen China’s response to Tesla, this time its Turkey. A prototype of the Pehlivan Elektrak, an electric car created in part with support from the Turkish government, just recently concluded a two-week trip of Balkan nations. Turkish efforts like this could be an enhancement on the models made by Elon Musk’s Tesla Motors, a minimum of according to Turkey’s science minister.

” Our vehicle will be much better and more secure than Tesla’s car,” stated Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Isik. “While they need to create charging stations, we will incorporate the charging station into the automobile thanks to a developed engine which extends the vehicle’s range.”

The automobile, which is named after the Turkish word for “wrestler,” was the winning design entry in a event sponsored by the Turkish state. It’s unclear if and when massive production of the vehicle will start.

In 2015, the Turkish government revealed to tie-up with Sweden’s Saab in its bid to release a brand-new “national car” sustained by electricity.

“We will require a producer to start manufacturing,” Isik informed reporters. “We will announce crucial cooperation offers for this part very soon.” The minister believes Turkey’s domestic electric-car project will be able to compete with ventures from Tesla, Google and others.
