Two children died and one was injured after an SUV rolled over and landed in a pond near Holland Township in Michigan on Thursday.

The crash took place around 11:20 a.m. on James Street when a 30-year-old woman in her SUV with her three sons, ages 1, 3 and 4 was traveling. The car was westbound when the SUV hit a curb and rolled over into a pond that was 3 or 4 feet deep.

When deputies attended the crash site, they saw three boys trapped in the SUV.

Some deputies and Holland Township firefighters attempted to get the children out by cutting their seat belts.

They were eventually taken out and admitted to local hospitals. The 3- and 4-year-olds were pronounced dead. The 1-year-old was critically injured.

The mother received minor injuries.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
