Two dead, three injured after car crash in Norfolk County

Two people were killed and three others were seriously injured following a multi-vehicle crash in Norfolk County, Ontario on Thursday afternoon.

Officials responded to the intersection of Highway 24 and Concession 7 of Townsend at about 1:40 p.m. for reports of a fatal crash involving an SUV and another vehicle.

One child and two adults from the SUV were admitted to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

An adult passenger in the other car was seriously injured and flown to a Hamilton hospital where they later succumbed to injuries.

The driver of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering life-threatening injuries.

Highway 24 between Windham Road 6 and Windham Road 7 was set to be closed for about six hours — until around 10 p.m. — as officers cleared the scene.

Ontario Provincial Police investigated the crash.
