Two people died and four others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash on a freeway north of Phoenix in Arizona on early Monday.

The three-vehicle crash caused the closure of northbound Interstate 17 past New River at Table Mesa Road just before 4 a.m.

Around 11:30 a.m., the freeway was resumed.

The Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical informed that four people were taken to the hospital, and three people needed to be extricated from their vehicles.

Two of them were pronounced dead at the scene.

Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
