Uber stated it would challenge a decision by London’s transport regulator on Friday to remove it of its licence to run from the end of the month.
Transport for London said Uber, whose licence ends on September 30, would be permitted to continue to run while the appeals procedure was exhausted.
“Transport for London and the Mayor have caved in to a small number of individuals who wish to restrict customer choice,” Uber stated. “We mean to instantly challenge this in the courts.”
A decision to not restore taxi app’s Uber private hire license in London does not affect takeaway food delivery service UberEATS, an Uber spokesperson stated.
Shares in competing Just Eat increased earlier on the decision by regulator Transport for London.
