Two weeks ago we’ve told you that the Lexus LFA’s fastest Nordschleife laptime for a production car – 7:14 is not a record anymore because it has been broken by the new Dodge Viper whick was able run around the Nurburgring in just 7:12, at least according to Viper Club of America. Well, today we can show you something more than photos from the event… we can show you the video!
As a reminder, three years ago, Dodge decided to set a blistering time at the ‘Ring with its Viper ACR coupes and they succeeded. Dodge claimed with a time of 7:22.1 that it held the fastest lap time of any production car around the famous circuit for quite some time.
As expected, since then, many vehicles have bested that still-stellar time, notably the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (7:19.63) and more recently the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition (7:14).
However, now it seems that a Viper ACR has reportedly just reclaimed the title with an unofficial time of “7:12 and change.”
Keep in mind that the Nürburgring Nordschleife is often described as the most technically challenging purpose-built road course in the world, being the testing track for most of the automakers. The 12.9-mile north loop has long been the global standard bearer for sports cars since its construction in the 1920s.
