If you happen to be quite a loyal fan of the German automaker, Volkswagen, and you love its Golf vehicle lineups, this should definitely prove to be good news for you. The German company in question has taken the liberty of introducing a new Golf variant for the 2017 model year. Dubbed the Golf SportWagen Alltrack, the car is making its world premiere at the 2015 New York Auto Show and it comes with a rugged body.

Speaking of the rugged body, this new Golf variant from the German marquee has also had its ride height increased by 20 mm. In addition to that, it is well protected by aluminum plates and features plastic body cladding, too.

If you remember correctly, this is not the very first time the car makes an official appearance, however. Back in the Paris Motor Show that took place last year, the car was also introduced already. So, its debut in the New York Auto Show this time clearly indicates that a US variant will be coming out pretty soon from Volkswagen’s factory.

Unfortunately, so far, the German automaker has not really been kind enough to disclose what kind of engines buyers of the vehicle get to expect. Yet, the company has actually confirmed that the new Golf will be coming with the company’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain as a standard feature. This system will reportedly benefit from the latest edition of the Haldex coupling as well. Although the engine options remain a mystery, you may want to be reminded that the Euro-spec of the model is treated with a 1.8 TSI petrol engine that delivers 180 HP and 280 Nm of power and torque, for the start. In addition, there are also three diesel engines available, which are, a 1.6 TDI engine with 110 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque, a 2.0 TDI engine with 150 HP of power and 340 Nm of torque and also a 2.0L TDI engine that gives out 184 HP and 380 Nm of power and torque, respectively.

The car will reportedly be available for order starting from the oncoming 2016. As mentioned earlier, it will be available as a 2017 model year vehicle.
