Volkswagen preview the all new XL sport in Paris has kick-started things in full speed. A sports concept car, hybrid of a coupe and motorcycle is a distinct feat accomplished by the German Maker. The Ducati’s powerful engine laced limited edition is an extended model of last year’s XL1, but with more high-tech specification and performance upgrades. The 197 horsepower engine shook things up at the Paris Motor Show and everybody was talking about it.
Volkswagen has focused on lightweight technology; it weighs only 890kg that boosts up to 168 miles per hour top speed. Aerodynamics of the XL sport is done extremely well and its drag coefficient is 0.258 with sporty wide tires. The dual-clutch auto transmission is developed via a magnesium alloy.
Volkswagen designers have significantly improved and achieved the new look. The front, rear and interiors have been optimized like a bigger fuel tank and engine specific reduction gears have been added.
Interiors also include a climate control, wooden gearlever knob and oil-pressure display. The engineering is similar to the XL1 in aspects like the carbonfibre monocoque, which gives the sports car the appeal. But Peter Wouda, the design brains behind Volkswagen XL1 and now XL calls it a tough trip. The journey from last year’s auto show has been full of innovation and the project is to push forward the performance car segment.
