Welcome the Chevrolet Bolt EV at NAIAS!

Before this, the American automaker, Chevrolet – or Chevy, was rumored to be working on a vehicle that would become the Bolt electric vehicle (EV). Well, it turns out that those rumors were not completely rumors, after all. The company in question has now officially removed the wraps covering its Bolt EV Concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) stage.

As it turns out, the concept vehicle model mentioned earlier will come in the shape of a hatchback. In addition to that, it will sport five doors altogether. Design wise, the car is going to look a lot like the BMW i3 EV, it seems. This is quite clearly visible from the short overhangs at the front and rear ends of the vehicle. Also, the car will prove to be light enough, thanks to the use of such materials as carbon fiber, woven mesh, magnesium and also aluminum. At the rear end of the car, Chevrolet has installed fenders to make sure that the car has its aerodynamics factor optimized. And, unlike other vehicles that use the LED lighting technology only for the front headlamps, this offering from Chevy uses LED for its taillights as well.

Inside the car, owners will have very spacious legrooms and headrooms. In addition to that, passengers inside the vehicle will also be able to look up to the sky through the transparent roof installed on the vehicle. The center console inside the cabin of the vehicle sports a floating design and is completed by a 10-inch touchscreen display panel.

So far, Chevrolet is still pretty coy in terms of technical specifications. However, this new EV from the US soil will be able to go up to 322 km on a single battery charge. The Chevrolet Bolt EV will reportedly come with an asking price of $30,000.
