MustangDaily claims an all-new version of Ford’s pony car will debut as a 2015 model, with a refreshed Mustang coming in 2013 to fill the gap.
Ford’s design chief J Mays has promised that it won’t simply be an updated version of the current S197 platform. “We can’t simply do an evolution of the 2005, 2010 cars,”
The coming redesigned pony car it could use a global platform with a smaller footprint, independent rear suspension, and rear-wheel drive. It will be sold in more parts of the world including the UK, Japan and Australia. The styling will have global input as well, with Ford’s studios around the world bringing designs to the table.
Probably Ford’s growing range of turbocharged EcoBoost engines to play a central role as well, though a V-8 option is likely to remain available. Turbo fours and sixes could be the mainstay models, however, delivering similar performance to the current V-6 and V-8 models while eking out slightly better efficiency.
The 2013 Shelby GT500 is rumored to get an upgrade to more than 620 horsepower, and could even receive a twin-turbo setup to replace the suprecharger system. Also, a new 2013 Cobra Jet is in the works, and a redesigned 2013 Boss 302 will also be produced with styling resembling the 1970 model.

“redesigned” is an ambiguous word. Mustang is a perfect car as it is and I do not think that needs refreshing, but if it be so I hope that everything happens under the hood and the exterior design will remain pretty much the same… :-s
Mustang rocks \m/
Present edition is one sixth too large. At least it has devalued all the over restored original cars.
