1936 Bugatti Type 57C could break the world auction record

Ettore Bugatti’s personal 1936 Type 57C Coupe will be auctioned at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance by Gooding & Company in August.

This car was built for Mr. Ettore Bugatti as a birthday present.

It is in very good condition and after Mr. Bugatti’s death in 1947 it has had only few owners. No restoration work has been done to this Type 57C meaning it is 100% original.

According to David Gooding from Gooding & Company it is one of the most spectacular Bugattis ever built. Bugatti Type 57C was built between 1943 and 1940. Total of 710 units were built. Under the hood is a 3.2-liter straight-eight. They are all very rare, but this is more special as it was driven by Ettore Bugatti himself. In addition it was painted in two-tone bright green and black, which was unusual for a Bugatti.

Until today the most expensive car auctioned is a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa which was sold for $12.1 million last month.

Gooding and Company auction officials think that the final bid for this 1936 Bugatti Type 57C will be more than $12.1 million.
