Collectors world over seek the rare ones that automobile makers come out with. These units command astronomical prices and are often priced in millions of dollars or even more. Ferrari has the distinction of coming out with such models that have in addition a specialized processing method for the long queue of such collectors in wait for their cars. The auction process that takes place between such moneyed collectors is an interesting event to experience.

Amongst the three coupe models that Ferrari has come out with, the 340 Mexico Coupe is one that Barchetta has produced. Ferrari is known for its production of rare performance oriented models. This one had been made by Ferrari for participating in one of the most deadly racing event the world witnesses that is the 1952 Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico. Ferrari had the process of selling road going cars just to make up cost that they incurred for their racing exploits which was much against Ferrari’s founder’s wishes.

Ferrari therefore never built a road going version of the 340 Mexico Coupe and it had gone on to win the racing event it had participated in. RM Auctions now have this car on sale and it comes with its original engine fit. The auction house expects to get between $2,750,000 and $3,500,000 for the car.
