Not many can afford a Mercedes, but those who have bought one are definitely more than pleased with it and why would they not be, considering that a car is really special with great performance. Well, it might be, but even the most powerful car in the world may become even more powerful. This is the principle on which they went the folks from Kubatech and mcchip-dkr who decided Mercedes SLS could do with a bit more power. Said and done.
Keep in mind that the standard SLS AMG is powered by a hand-built 6.2-liter DOHC 32-valve AMG V8, a front mid-mounted engine that makes 571 horsepower and 479 ft-lbs of torque for rear wheels to digest via the driveshaft, carbon fiber torque tube and a standard limited-slip differential. This power is tranferred to the wheels through an AMG’s dual-clutch seven-speed transmission (transaxle-mounted).
Pretty good, but not for an aftermarket specialist. Kubatech and mcchip-dkr have hooked the SLS with a revised software for its ECU, and that alone results in an extra 54 HP and 30 Nm of torque.
Thanks to this upgrade, the Mercedes SLS AMG now has 625 bhp and 680 Nm of torque to play with. Depite the fact that Kubatech does not reveal how that affects the performance, it surely gets more faster than before.
As for the pricing, the upgrade costs €8,026, and does not include any other thing than the ECU map whatsoever.
