The 2012 Audi A7 Sport Back is all set to storm markets from May this year. With this premium hatchback that is slotted in between the A6 and A8 models, Audi will be entering an entirely new segment. Johan de Nysschen, the president of Audi of America has stated that the A7 Sport back model is being visualized as an “avant garde option” for all those who are aiming for the Jaguar XJ or the BMW 7 series. Johan de Nysschen also stated the A7 Sport back has been planned for all those who want their cars to be styled emotionally, close to their heart but in contrast will also have the best driving dynamics and facilities highlighted by the best safety options that are available on the conventional A8 and A7 series from Audi.
De Nysschen did not forget to mention that he considers the Mercedes-Benz CLS model as a possible rival to this car. Currently the German carmaker is taking multiple projects under its belt to expand the lineup of models such that they can achieve their target sales of 150,000 vehicles in the U.S. by the year 2015. The best year for Audi in the U.S. in terms of sales has been 2010, shelling out a total of 101,629 vehicles.
The General Manager of product planning for Audi of America, Mr. Filip Brabec has stated that the A7 comes with many positives including a large hidden deck lid which adds some practicality to the car. The car also comes with two V-6 gasoline engines that have also been equipped for the A7 models. The engine options include a 280-hp 2.8-liter and a 290-hp 3.0-liter engine. In addition to these powertrains, customers also have diesel options, with two diesel V-6 engines namely a 170-hp 3.0-liter and a 240-hp 3.0-liter engine on offer. Well we hope that the A7 Sport Back turns out to be a huge success for the company and presents itself positively in the auto market.
