2013 Fisker Surf Shooting Brake: Specs and Pictures

by Zack Colt

Being one of the attractions at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2013 Fisker Surf is the shooting brake version of the Fisker Karma.

Even if the Surf may look too outlandish to be anything but a concept, it is very much headed for production considering that the manufacturer announced that this new model will join the Karma on the Valmet Automotive production line in Finland next year, with international deliveries scheduled for July 2012.

The 2013 Fisker Surf is a pretty impressive range-extended electric vehicle that comes fitted with a 260-horsepower turbocharged onboard range-extender engine, a 175 kW (234 horsepower) electric motor, 20 kWh battery pack, and 5.9-second 0-60 mph times.

The manufacturer claims that this car’s top speed will match the Karma’s 125 mph in Sport mode, which engages both electric and combustion powertrains. Stealth mode allows all-electric range of up to 50 miles, but slows 0-60 mph acceleration to 7.9 seconds and reduces top speed to 95 mph.

The interior makes extensive use of textured fabric and metallic trim, cast in contrasting shades of grey and burnt umber. While seating for four and cargo area divided into three regions, a tunnel divides the rear seats.

Availability and pricing details are yet to come. However, expect the Surf to be priced around $110,000.
