The 2014 MINI Cooper is being teased yet again ahead of its full reveal to take place next week on November 18th.
“The New Original” has returned in another teaser clip and this it is showing more of its stylish body which rides on the UKL1 platform that will also underpin several BMW front- and all-wheel drive models. The 2014 MINI will come as standard with an active hood that will be automatically raised to create a yielding crumple zone in case of a pedestrian collision occurred at speeds between 19 kmph – 55 kmph.
Despite being bigger than the outgoing model, the 2014 MINI will have a lower curb weight thanks to more high-strength steels in its construction. Other highlights of this new model include a lighter braking system providing better friction, as well as a revamped electronic power steering system.
Confirmed engine options include a 1.5-liter gasoline mill with an output of 134 hp (100 kW) and a 2.0-liter engine outputting 189 hp (141 kW). Diesel options will include a newly developed 1.5-liter direct-injection common-rail motor rated at 114 hp (85 kW) and a peak torque of 269 Nm (199 lb-ft). More powerful engines are being planned for the S and JCW derivatives.
