2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC Spied without Camouflage

by SpeedLux

The entirely new, next generation variant of the GLC vehicle lineups from Mercedes-Benz has not actually been launched just yet. Nonetheless, someone has actually managed to snatch a number of images of the new upcoming vehicle from the luxury German automaker. Coming with a visual design that is more modern than the outgoing Mercedes-Benz GLK, what does the car have in store?

Coming in the form of a crossover with a compact size, the Mercedes-Benz GLC will be closely related to the C-Class whose size is similar to that of the GLC. In fact, this is why the new vehicle is going to bear the GLC moniker. This is further confirmed by some recently captured spy images that happen to reveal the Mercedes-Benz GLC will be sporting an interior that looks very nearly exactly the same as that of the premium Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan. Yet, as for the exterior, the GLC is coming with a lot of similarities to the entry level Mercedes-Benz GLA, only with a larger scale.

The GLC will reportedly utilize the same chassis as the one used on the C-Class as well. In addition to that, the body of the vehicle also looks younger than its predecessor, thanks to its curvaceous body design, sweptback headlamps, gently sloping roofline, roof spoiler, dual exhaust pipes with chrome accents and also fairly slender pair of taillights.

Engine options will be the same as the ones that Mercedes-Benz uses on its C-Class vehicle lineups as well, with the range-topping engine being the 4.0L V8 engine with twin turbochargers. The said engine is going to be implemented on the Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 AMG model. It is said that the standard variant Mercedes-Benz GLC will deliver 476 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the higher trim may have 510 hp of power and 700 Nm of torque.

The German marquee is most likely to officially introduce the GLC model this year, somewhere in the second half. Chances are, the Mercedes-Benz GLC will show up at the stage of the Frankfurt Motor Show this September 2015. The AMG variant is expected to follow early next year.
