Kentucky State Police say KY 81 is closed in McLean County near the Daviess County line after a four-car crash.
The accident took place after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Troopers say three people are dead after the crash, and two people were flown to hospitals.
KSP officials say a car was traveling north on KY 81 when it clipped a truck driving the other direction, and then struck another car head-on.
Police confirm the driver of the car that struck the others died at the scene. State troopers say the car that was hit head on had four people inside it. A child and one of the adults were among the dead.
Names and ages of the victims are yet to be revealed.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The roadway is closed between State Routes 815 and 3470. Dispatchers say the road will be closed for several hours.
Trooper Corey King wrote on Twitter: “Confirmed 3 deceased and 2 flown to area hospitals Highway 81 will be shutdown for several hours to reconstruct. Take KY 140 as detour.”
