3 killed in car crash after robbery and shooting in Riverside, Ohio

Three juveniles were killed in a car crash that took place shortly after an attempted robbery in the AutoZone parking lot at the Airway Shopping Center, Riverside, Ohio.

The crash took place in the area of Airway Road and Hickam Drive around 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said an investigation showed the juvenile males tried to rob a person of their vehicle prior to the car crash.

“The citizen did not comply and the suspects fled the scene towards Airway Road,” police said. “The citizen followed the suspect vehicle in an attempt to get the vehicle license plate. Suspects in the vehicle then fired multiple shots at the citizen who was not hit.”

Two juveniles were thrown from the car in the car crash and a third was admitted to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A fourth juvenile was found by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Security Forces.

The car the juveniles were in had been reported stolen out of Dayton, according to police.

Several people called 911 for reporting the shooting and the car crash.
