A driver escaped from the scene of a two-vehicle crash that killed three men in Anaheim, California on early Tuesday morning.
A Kia and a Mercedes crashed at approximately 2:50 a.m. in the area of South Brookhurst Street and West Orange Avenue.
Anaheim police responded to discover the car crash engulfed in flames. Three men in the Kia were declared dead at the scene, police said. Their identities haven’t been revealed.
The driver and passenger of the Mercedes, both women, escaped on foot, but were later discovered at an area hospital, police said.
The exact circumstances that resulted in the crash are yet to be discovered. Police are investigating whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
“They’ll determine the rate of speed, but based on the force of the crash, and what’s obvious here and what you can see behind me, it does appear there was some speed involved,” Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer told reporters.
Brookhurst Street was closed between Broadway and Orange Avenue.
