Four people were killed and over 50 others were hospitalized in southern British Columbia after the bus they were traveling in rolled over on an icy highway on 25 December.
The identities of the victims were not released yet.
Officials said the exact number of passengers has yet to be verified and officers were in the process of finding and speaking to those who were on the bus, including the driver.
At least 53 people were being treated after the crash on Highway 97C.
“Due to the exigent circumstances and injuries, many were transported to local hospitals prior to police having the chance to identify them at the scene,” the officials said.
The road conditions were described to be “very poor” with ice and snow on the road surface together with rain and hail falling.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
