It is at this juncture that BMW’s Vision Connected Drive roadsters makes its presence felt. There is no word given by BMW as to whether this Vision CD will ever hit production. The main focus of the car is to flaunt its assimilation of mobile communication and new style language into its design.
At the very first look, the design appears cleaner, with more aggression and features a return to the style with an angry touché while the front end is having a shark like appearance. Adrian von Hooydonk, head of design at BMW supervised the design of the newly stylized four wheeler. The interior is way too applaud worthy. The cockpit, having the space for two, boasts a complete customizable gauge cluster, an enhanced Head-Up Display that delivers a three-dimensional display of driving and communication information. This 3D HUD apparently provides “an optical fusion of the actual view of the road ahead with virtual content.” An information device is also present for the passenger.
So what do all these refer to? If we put in a simple tone, the car actually incorporates provision for “Connected Driving Experience”.
Sensors placed at the front and rear are given the function of monitoring of the traffic flow; the vehicle not only monitors the driving environment but also can communicate with similar Vision CD vehicles that are to come in future. The passenger get access to the internet inside the car and can tweet to the people in cars ahead and behind of them as to how wonderful a car one is in. The driver gets his portable devices connected and read by the vehicle. It reads the driver’s calendar and refers to his notes so that it can suggest possible ways of attending appointments and meetings efficiently. The devices use satellite navigation for gathering the information in the shortest of time possible.
So with these technologies incorporated one does not have to wait to reach home and check his updates and likes on his facebook status as it can well be done from inside the car itself. No only that, one can actually order pizza en route as well. The Vision Connected Drive roadster paves the way for the futuristic realm of merging the online world with the world behind the steering wheel. It also previews a new design language possibly making its way towards your future Beemer.
