Ford to temporarily halt retail orders for hybrid pickup Maverick

Ford Motor said this week it would halt retail orders for the Maverick as it did not have the capacity to satisfy overwhelming demand.

The vehicle is an affordable pickup that the automaker introduced in 2021.

The automaker will stop taking new orders after January 27 in order to focus on existing bookings, although customers may still be able to buy a Maverick at their local Ford dealer.

It will restart taking orders for the 2023 Maverick in the summer.

The global shortages of chips have caused a number of automakers to idle or reduce their production.
