Abarth has announced that it will be bringing the Punto EVO with a turbocharged 1.4L engine that can output 165 horsepower to the 201 Geneva Motor Show this March.
The performance division of Fiat was able to boost the power of the car up to 165 hp and a torque of 250 Nm by sourcing a bigger turbocharger from Garrett. The car can blast from 0 to 100 in just 7.9 seconds.
The handling of the Punto EVO was also improved with Abarth using McPherson struts in front and a semi independent torsion bar for the rear. They made the springs 20% stiffer and also gave it a bigger anti roll bar.
To improve the looks, the Abarth Punto EVO was given a redesigned front and rear bumpers with diffuser for the tail end, reconfigured air vents, new spoiler, color matching side skirts, and tapped the old badge of the Abarth for the car.
The inside of the car gives the driver a good experience with the Sabelt racing seats. You can also choose either the Sport or Normal mode to have full control of the engine, steering, and the braking. There is an indicator of the selected mode on the dashboard while the gear indicator is displayed on the instrument panel.
The hot hatch also makes use of a Start and Stop technology to control its fuel efficiency and emissions. Abarth also installed a Torque Transfer Control that activates the lock differential automatically when needed.
The Punto EVO also became greener with fuel mileage jumping to 6L per 100 kilometers or 39.2 mpg. Carbon dioxide emission is also maintained at an excellent 142g/km.
Abarth also offers an SS kit to make things for the Punto EVO even better. The output of the engine will be cranked to give out 180 hp. Set up will also include 18 inch titanium or white rims and lower springs.
