Alpina B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio Based On 2012 BMW 6-Series Cabrio Unveiled at 2011 IAA: Live Photos and Details

The 2011 edition of Frankfurt Auto Show is the starting place for many production and concept models, but let’s not forget about the tuners. One of them is the German tuning house Alpina, which has been modifying BMWs cars for more than four decades.

Based on the latest 6-Series Convertible, their newest creation is the B6 Bi-Turbo Cabrio, a car which made its world premiere at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show and now, thanks to AutoBlog, we can present you some live photos from the event.

As a reminder, in standard form the 6-Series comes with an total output of 407 horsepower from its 4.4-liter V-8 engine. Pretty impressive for many of us, but not for Alpina, who thought that this isn’t enough, so they equipped the convertible with a 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque between 3,000 and 4,750 rpm setup. With this massive increase in power and 193 mph topspeed, the convertible now hits 62 mph from rest in 4.8 seconds, which is a 0.2-second improvement over the 650i’s 5.0 seconds tun.

In addition to that, the car does get a pair of dual chrome tips out back, some carbon fiber work and an “Alpina” badge on the front end. The tuner also fitted this car with its trademark multispoke alloy wheels plus carbon fibre trim bits, front apron and rear spoiler as well as bespoke interior parts will be fitted on this car.

The tuning company hasn’t indicated a price or sale date just yet, but stay tuned for details.
