Beijing Auto has unveiled a high-performance model recently which is based on the previous generation Saab 9-5 Aero.
The car has been dubbed as the Shenbao D-Series Aero and has prominent grille which is flanked LED-infused headlights. The model comes with a distinctive front spoiler, a sporty rear bumper and a four-tailpipe exhaust system. The model has a drag coefficient of just 0.28 thanks to the aerodynamic styling tweaks done to it.
The model has been fitted with a turbocharged 2.3-liter engine that is capable of developing 349 HP (257 kW) and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in around six seconds.
As previously reported, General Motors has inked a deal to sell the outdated Saab technology to Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co. Ltd (BAIC) in late 2009.
