If you are an ardent automobile fan and you have not been following the news recently this piece of information is for you. Its only recently that BMW revealed their brand new 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine that is all set to replace the standard version of the company’s engine, the straight six one. The successor is surely going to overpower its predecessor as expected. The force fed bullish engine is all set to make its debut with the brand new X1 compact crossover from BMW. The official confirmation from BMW came today stating that this brand new version of the engine will also be available in models like the BMW Z4 and 5 Series in due course of time gradually. Though the Bavarian automakers are yet to announce any date on which the above models will be produced by the BMW group but the cars are expected by the end of this year or at the very beginning of 2012.
The brand new turbocharged twin-scroll engine in the X1 28xDrive model is capable of producing a max power output of 245 HP and has a max torque rating of 350Nm most of which is available at engine speeds as low as just 1,250rpm. BMW has also stated that this engine is lighter than the predecessor 4 cylinders unit and is also a more compact version of the equivalent six cylinders engine. This engine will also make the car a more environment friendly one with 16 per cent improvement in fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions as well. We hope BMW creates magic with this new engine and revolutionizes the automobile world with their efforts in future as well.
