Brabus, the famous tuning company that specializes in Mercedes Benz models has come up with another of their creation on the Stuttgart models. This time, they have trained their focus on the S500 and CL500 along with other popular models like S63 and CL63 which are powered by the Mercedes Benz’s new V8 twin turbocharged engines. The Brabus treatment though is comprehensive in that there is enhancement meted out to not only the powertrains but there are also alterations and improvements in the cosmetic and handling aspects of the cars as well.
To begin with, for the S500 and CL500 models, Brabus has on offer two different state of tune for the standard 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engines. The first package that has been priced at €4,900 or US$7,160 includes a new ECU that has resulted in a higher output of 482 HP and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque, up from the 435 HP and 700 Nm that the engine is normally capable of.
The second kit also brings with it software optimization in addition to the new ECU. Sure at €5,900 or US$8,630 its more pricey of the two but it justifies that with an even higher power output. Brabus have also employed an supplementary intercooler to enhance power rating of 520 hp and 820 Nm (604 lb-ft) of peak torque. The results are obvious as in conjugation with the Brabus Vmax Unit, the cars will be capable of a top whack of 300 km/h or 188 mph.
As for the S63 and CL63 AMG models, the Brabus treatment includes an ECU optimization and a water-to-air intercooler that gets its juice from an electric auxiliary pump. All of these makes the standard 5.5-liter BiTurbo V8 to produce 584HP (+40HP) in standard form while the optional AMG performance kit will further enhance that to 620HP (+49HP) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft).
The most powerful variant with 620 HP on tap can do the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint in 4.3 seconds. With the further inclusion of the Brabus Vmax Unit, the max speed reached is 320 kmph or 199 mph.
Then there are also some other components available for S63 and CL63 variants as well. These include an exhaust system with a flap control that allows the driver to adjust the exhaust note, a limited slip differential with a locking rate of up to 40 percent, an aero kit with a front spoiler, rear diffuser and carbon trims.
Of course these are not all for there also are a lot of other interior refinements to be availed of. Brabus is also offering its own alloy wheels that range in size from 19 to 21 inches. All of these are applicable for both the standard and AMG models.
