Brabus Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG: Here are the official details and pictures

by Alex

Brabus, the German after-market sports car tuning company has taken the veil off its latest customization program for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG super sports vehicle. The company is popular for is incomparable capabilities to tune Mercedes-Benz cars. Notably, Brabus is one of the largest tuners for Mercedes Benz cars.

This new tuning program has several promising changes for the tuned sports car segment. The new program will provide a front spoiler, which is primarily devised with purpose to reduce lift on the front axle when the sports car is running at very high speed. Two Brabus covers are included to cover the upper air inlets. These covers are quite helpful in optimizing the supply of cooling air. The front fenders with new air outlets will prominently feature the blue-illuminated Brabus lettering. The four exhaust tips of the Brabus sport exhaust system will have custom-tailored cutouts.

A new rear spoiler along with a Brabus rear fascia element will be part of the tuning package. The tuning package shall now be consisting of the new Brabus Monoblock F Platinum Edition wheels. The prominent quality of wheels is that they are up to twelve percent lighter than the stock wheels. The new Brabus ride controllers having high-adjustable smooth-ride suspension will be of assistance in lowering the height of the car by up to 40 millimeters i.e. over 1.6 inches. This is achievable at the push of a button. The front lift system from Brabus would come handy when there is a need to raise the front of the car by 50 millimeters i.e. over 2 inches. This ability, which again would be available at a push of a button, would be essentially helpful in safely navigating steep parking ramps or other obstacles.

The tuning program shall however have no changes deviating from the same standard 6.3-liter V8 engine. These power plants shall continue to be fitted, however, with a new Brabus titanium sports exhaust system. This exhaust system, weighing over 12 kilograms or 26 lbs., shall have four slanted new exhaust tips, each having a diameter of 84 millimeters 3.3 inches.

There is over 40 per cent reduction in the overall weight of the new Brabus exhaust systems as against the production exhausts. This reduction enables the sport cars with an additional 10 HP to the powertrain’s overall power output. A pneumatic bypass gate, which can be activated at the will of the driver from the cockpit, controls these new exhaust system. The pneumatic bypass gate features distinct and individual sound levels such as ‘normal mode’ or ‘coming home’. These pneumatic gates are designed primarily with an objective of producing lower sound levels and provide a quieter riding than the default production exhausts system. Brabus has not specified any target dates for release of this tuning kit for the engine and has maintained that the tuning kit will be available only at a later date.

The tuning package provides a masterfully crafted custom interior for your super car with some of the exclusive accessories including a new speedometer with 400-km/h scale (250 mph). Well you have it right, the new speedometer hints at the car’s future performance using the Brabus tuning and upgrades of the engine. The other attraction of the tuning package include, a brand new Brabus steering wheel, matte anodized pedals, and the stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated Brabus logo on it. These fully customized interiors for the SLS are produced at the Brabus upholstery shop using top-grade quality materials.

Unfortunately, even very experienced mechanics have difficulty in detecting the differences in these situations that are very often misunderstood, misleading them to search the origin of the troubles that the spark plugs are showing, in the supposedly wrong air/fuel mixture, cooling systems troubles or other mechanical failures.
