It is out of the question that Cadillac is an automotive brand that is all about luxury. It seems that the company really knows best how to offer customers with hard-to-reject luxuries whenever it launches a new vehicle model. Take the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe for instance. However, we won’t be talking about the ATS-V series this time, but about the CT6. The model will reportedly feature a video streaming feature on its rearview mirror. Thanks to this feature in particular, drivers will be able to have access to an area four times larger than what they can usually get on a standard rearview mirror.
In order to make this feature possible, the luxury American automaker equips its rearview mirror with a widescreen TFT LCD panel. This panel has a total resolution of 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 171 ppi. In order for it to function as expected, the rearview mirror works together with a specifically designed HD camera. This will help enhance the width of the rearview lane as well as maximize situations with dim lighting conditions. And, to make sure that nothing will get in the way of the camera, Cadillac has also applied a hydrophobic coating that is resistant to water.
One of the best things about this new facility from the luxury American automotive brand is that drivers of the Cadillac CT6 will no longer have their rear view distracted by the presence of things like rear seats or the rear pillars of the vehicle. This new feature will also get rid of all the blind spots that are normally present on a conventional rearview mirror. Nevertheless, should the drivers choose to look at the rear surroundings of the car the old-fashioned way, they can always turn off the feature, which will activate the conventional rearview mirror mode.
Speaking of this new feature available on the Cadillac CT6, Travis Hester, the chief engineer at the company, claims that it will provide drivers with an experience similar to driving a roadster.
