Black and Ferocious McLaren P1 Spotted in China

by SpeedLux

When we talk about the vehicles that roll out of McLaren’s factory, we are basically talking about ferocious British supercars – or even hypercars. Yet, maybe, just maybe, they are not as ferocious as this particular example of the vehicle recently spotted in mainland China. Even though the McLaren P1 will look great in just about any colors, this P1 from China looks particularly masculine and aggressive, thanks to its black-on-black paint job. The paint job makes all the flowing sculptured lines on the body of the vehicle stand out clearly.

For your information, the hybrid hypercar from the British soil was originally designed to have some of its characteristics derived from the automaker’s past legendary vehicle, the McLaren F1 super sports car. The latter was designed by the cold hands of Gordon Murray, it first came available for public consumption approximately twenty years ago. In the year 1998, the McLaren F1 managed to take the title of the quickest production car ever in the entire world, achieving a top speed of 391 km/h.

However, in the case of the McLaren P1, the vehicle is able to reach a speed of 300 km/h within less than 16.2 seconds. Its speed ends at the mark of 350 km/h. However, that is not its true potential for the car has been limited electronically by its factory to that speed. In spite of its very high speed, the car needs just 6.2 seconds to decelerate to a full stop from the 300km/h mark, thanks to the 2G force it generates while applying its brakes. In terms of fuel efficiency, the vehicle consumes only 8.3 L / 100 km.

For the sake of performance, the McLaren P1 counts on its 3.8L V8 mid-mounted engine. This one is a derivative from the engine the company uses on its 12C model. However, it comes with dozens of differences over the one under the hood of the 12C. For instance, the engine of the McLaren P1 features a special block casting that houses largely sized turbochargers with high pressure, electric motor with the Instant Power Assist System, or IPAS for short, and many more.

The car can offer the power of 903 horses when it reaches its peak performance.
