Two people were killed in a fatal crash in Loyalsock Township, Pennsylvania on early Monday.
Investigators are attempting to identify the man and woman who were killed in the vehicle crash at the bridge over Miller Run, where Washington Boulevard and East Third Street merge, Lycoming County Chief Deputy Coroner Jerold Ross said.
It was assumed the vehicle, which was an SUV, was moving east but investigators have not said as of yet which road they were traveling on.
The firefighters and police were dispatched at 1:45 a.m. to deal with the incident.
Investigators said that the vehicle hit the bridge wall, went through railings, and engulfed in flames. The vehicle went down a 10-foot embankment.
Officials attempted to reach the occupants in the vehicle but there was too much fire and heat that they were unsuccessful in reaching them.
Officials knocked down the fire in 10 minutes. In the crash, the vehicle’s gasoline tank ruptured, and that mixed with oils and polluted the section of the grass and brush at the vehicle crash scene.
No other details were known as of yet.
