Ford Motor is recalling 198,000 SUVs in the United States for replacing the blower motor assembly after reports of 25 fires, the automaker said on Thursday.
The recall covers 2015-2017 model year Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The automaker said it had three reports of fires associated to property damage to structures and one involving minor injury.
The automaker will notify owners starting September 12.
The callback was unrelated to safety recalls authorized in July relating to newer 2021 Expedition and Navigator vehicles for an engine compartment fire risk emerging in the battery junction box, the automaker said.
Field data indicated the issue in the new recall impacts vehicles with higher mileage and time-in-service, the automaker said.
The automaker is recalling 1,175 2022 model year Mustang Mach-E vehicles electric vehicles as the right-rear axle half shafts may haven’t been manufactured properly and a part could break. Dealers will inspect and make replacements of right-rear half shafts as needed.
The automaker said it had no reports of failures among owners but last month saw that its Cuautitlan Assembly Plant in Mexico had identified 2 vehicles that had broken rear right half shafts.
