Fords 5 Pick Collection

by Will Parker

Ecurie Ford France has put together an exclusive collection of five cars — special editions of the European Focus RS — to mark the U.S. automaker’s historic victories at Le Mans in the mid-to-late ’60s.

The Ford Focus RS Le Mans Classic models will take part in the Le Mans Classic event July 9-11, then will be sold.

Three of the five special editions are particularly significant to Ford motorsports fans and historians.

One car, painted black with silver stripes, pays homage to the Ford Mk II that beat Ferrari in the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours. A second car, painted red with white stripes, recalls the victorious Mk IV from the 1967 race, piloted by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt. A third car, painted sky blue and orange, honors the legendary John Wyer-prepped GT40s that swept the top three spots at Le Mans in 1968 and won again in 1969.

Two other versions of the Focus RS, one white with a blue stripe, the other a two-tone white and blue, mark lesser events, the details of which can be found at Ecurie Ford France’s Facebook page.

All five cars feature a custom cockpit with Recaro seats trimmed in leather and diamond-quilted Alcantara, as well as a leather-trimmed center armrest, handbrake lever and gearshift boot. Ford also plans to provide each buyer with a limited-edition Le Mans Class three-dial chronograph.
