Four killed after two-vehicle crash in St. Landry Parish

Four people died after a two-vehicle crash on I-49 near mile marker 40 in St. Landry Parish on Friday night.

A 54-year-old identified as John Lundy was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-49. A 20-year-old identified as Lindy Rae Simmons was driving south.

The crash took place when the two struck head-on in the left lane.

Lundy and Simmons were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Simmons’ vehicle had four passengers. Two of them succumbed to their injuries in hospital. They have been identified as Kamryn Simmons, 15, and Christopher Simmons, 17. Two other passengers were admitted to the hospital and were in critical condition.

Louisiana State Police is investigating the crash.
