Four people died in a car crash on westbound Interstate 64, New Kent County, Richmond, Virginia on Monday morning.
The crash took place around 11 a.m. at the Providence Forge exit, Exit 214, across from Colonial Downs. All westbound lanes of I-64 in New Kent were shut as of 1 p.m. As of 3 p.m., a video from Chopper 10, showed one lane open to traffic.
Virginia State Police said. the driver of a sedan was passing traffic on the right shoulder before it ran off the road onto the grassy shoulder and hit a post mounting a traffic camera. The car caught fire after that.
The front seat passenger was taken out of the vehicle and admitted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver and three juveniles were pronounced dead at the scene.
By 10:30 p.m., all lanes were resumed.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Anthony Snow, who succumbed to his injuries.
The three juveniles, who were children of Snow, and have been identified as Joseph (13), Mary (11), and Victor (9).
The passenger in the front seat has been identified as Ishia Palmisano, who is undergoing surgery at a VCU in Richmond.
