Hyundai Motor is in talks with the Chinese government for selling one of its factory sites in Beijing according to news agency Yonhap.

The report said the automaker is promoting the sale of the factory site, the first one it had built in Beijing, to the Shunyi district government in the city.

Beijing Hyundai, the joint venture between Hyundai and BAIC Motor, has three manufacturing plants in Beijing.

Hyundai and BAIC have not commented on this report yet.

Chinese media on Thursday reported electric vehicle (EV) maker Li Auto has shown interest in taking over the factory.

Li Auto is headquartered in Beijing.
