Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has encouraged Tesla to invest in Karnataka, India on Tuesday.
There have been announcements since last year that Tesla will enter in India by 2021.
It was reported in September 2020 that Tesla in talks to set up a research center in Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk indicated in July 2020 that the automaker will “hopefully” enter soon to India. In October 2020, he said that the automaker will enter India by 2021.
Last month, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari said that Tesla will come to India in early 2021.
B.S. Yediyurappa wrote on Twitter: “Karnataka will lead India’s journey towards Green Mobility. Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla will soon start its operations in India with an R&D unit in Bengaluru. I welcome @elonmusk to India & Karnataka and wish him all the very best.”
