Fresh from the launch of the MP4-12C, McLaren has now announced it will now come up with a new model every year from now onwards. The design was first unveiled in September 2009 and now McLaren MP4-12C will make an appearance in 9 US showrooms by the end of the year.
To meet the fuel economy standards, the car features a carbon fibre composite chassis along with a twin turbo 3.8 litre V8 engine. The car will use Formula 1 sourced techniques. It will be priced at $229,000 in the US and £168,500 in the UK.
Anthony Sheriff, MD, reiterated that his company will continue to churn out two seater sports cars, thus dashing all hopes of those expecting family cars to roll out of McLaren portals. They also have a cheaper car in the pipeline, to compete with Porsche 911; they also have a super car to take the Lamborghini Aventador and Porsche 918 head on. With variants of each model, with different price points, above or below McLaren MP4-12C, with some convertible versions thrown in, McLaren sure will keep its promise of getting a new car on the road, every year.
