Next Generation MG6 Has Better Engine and Equipment

by SpeedLux

The automaker that calls itself MG has taken the liberty of introducing to the public its latest creation, the 2015 model year MG6. As the automaker puts it, its latest creation is intended to offer ‘more MG for the customers’ money’. Ironically enough, this latest generation MG6 does not exactly look new. In fact, it is actually quite similar to the predecessor.

If you pay close attention to the images here, you will most likely notice that the only things new about the vehicle is its LED daytime running lights in addition to its new front and rear bumpers. In fact, for the front and rear bumpers, they are not completely new but more like slightly redesigned. Nevertheless, the automaker claims that it has upgraded just about every bit of the interior. As such, customers can now find an electronic parking brake along with a new instrument panel.

Well, honestly speaking, what is really new about this next generation MG6 is the engine that lies under the hood of the vehicle. This time around, the car packs a 1.9L engine. Running on solar for fuel, MG claims that this engine has been treated with significant improvements over the one used on the predecessor. Ironically, however, the power and torque remain the same as before, totaling 150 HP and 350 Nm, respectively. The only things improved here are the fuel efficiency as well as CO2 emission rate. The car now consumes 4.6 liters of fuel for 100 km and returns 119 grams of CO2 for every kilometer traveled. It seems that the acceleration has also improved a bit, by 0.1 second, since the car can now reach the speed of 100 km/h from a standstill in just 8.4 seconds.

The British automaker, MG, will be offering the MG6 in three trims, which are, S, TS and TL. For the base model, the S trim, customers will have to pay GBP13,995. For that sum of money, customers will be eligible for an electronic parking brake, heated front seats and 16-inch alloy wheels. In comparison, the TS trim will have cruise control, automatic headlamps and wipers and also partial leather seats. Lastly, for the TL trim, the top of the range, the car features a parking camera, HID headlamps and a full leather cabin, among other stuffs.
