Nissan Launches the X-Trail Hybrid in Japan

by SpeedLux

The latest generation X-Trail vehicle model from the Japanese automaker, Nissan, has not been out for too long yet, to be honest. Nonetheless, the company is already introducing yet another variant of the model, this time a hybrid. The Japanese company has launched the hybrid crossover in its home country and the car will start going on sale as soon as May 13, 2015 arrives.

Paying attention to the visual styling of the vehicle, the car looks virtually identical to its non-hybrid counterpart. Only, it now has LED fog lamps in a vertical stance, in addition to ‘pure drive hybrid’ badges. Also, since it is a hybrid vehicle, the driver of the car can now see two, instead of one, instrument panels that display information typical to a hybrid vehicle.

For the sake of its performance, the car has been well equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that is accompanied by the company’s XTRONIC gearbox, lithium-ion battery and also an electric motor. For the conventional part, the combustion engine, it is capable of spitting out 147 HP and 207 Nm of power and torque. Yet, as for the electric part, it gives the car a total power output of 41 HP and a total torque of 160 Nm.

The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid also features the Forward Emergency Braking System as standard. Speaking of this safety system in particular, Nissan is planning to equip it to all the company’s JDM-spec models no later than fall this year. Besides the Forward Emergency Braking System, the hybrid variant of the Japanese crossover will also feature aerodynamic floor, regenerative braking system and also more efficient fuel consumption, with the latter coming from low-rolling resistance tires.

The base price of the Nissan X-Trail Hybrid starts from 2,804,760 Japanese Yens for the 2WD variant. For the Black Xtreamer-X variant, a 4WD variant, of the model, customers will have to pay 3,240,000 Japanese Yens in total.
